Hibernation.......

With no facilities available to complete the work required to CCH, and with no desire to take out a second mortgage to have it done professionally a new approach was required. I've decided to put CCH into storage over the winter until such time as I have the facilities to do the job properly, basically that would be when we move. I'd been looking around for a while for a suitable storage location when a friend of mine told me of an underground car park he knew of that was hardly being used. I went over to look at it and it was pretty much what I was looking for, well lit, dry, with good ventilation and, most of all, secure. The deal was done. Next job was to find a way of moving the car the 17 miles to its new home over the winter.

As there was no way I could drive it (the Police don't take kindly to no light, wings, windscreen or front bumper, and a lack of road fund licence) the only other alternative was to get a car transportation firm to move it for me. For the very reasonable sum of 100 of my Great British pounds a very nice man named Tom came and picked up the car for me in his nice, shiny, low loader.

Almost loaded up and ready to go. As you can see it's raining, hard. Not good, not very good at all. Especially with no windscreen in and a black plastic bin bag taped over the opening. It rained all the way to the storage facility, only stopping when the transporter arrived there but, fortunately, the temporary windscreen cover held up and only a very little water crept into the cockpit. In no time at all CCH was dried off and ensconced in its new home, all safe and snug, and warm, and cozy as well I suppose. So that's it, for the first time in two years CCH was a long way away from me, I had a lump in my throat as I left and something in my eye, no seriously, I did have something in my eye, honest!

So now all I have to do is wait to the new '72 roadster to arrive, didn't I mention that? I did, didn't I? Well, if I didn't we (alright me but my wife did give in eventually) have decided to purchase to recently restored, Tartan Red, '72 roadster to use in the meantime, should take delivery of it either just before, or just after, Christmas. Merry Christmas to us!
